Why Electric Violin

When I was performing explicitly in an acoustic band, the range of issues with sounding was negligible. The array of instruments in folclore is balanced, also music styles as bluegrass and country have arrangements, where the solo-parts are easy and significant to hear. The problems come with the array of ten or more musicians, where each tone needs to be fought hard.

Worst it was during playing in unusual arrays, e.g. among rockers. Neverending story began during my first sounding by the amplifiers. Classic instrument is possible to sound, if you use the right microphone that is set verically on the top plate above the F-holes, with amplification the frequencies 200 - 400 Hz for full tone, resp. 7 - 11 kHz for sharp trebles. The musician cannot do any move with amplifying this way, singing is out of the question. Each slight excitation causes feedback. Anyone who knows me also knows that I couldn't bear it.

But it is possible to sound an accoustic instrument. At first I tried to stick a vibration sensor Hohner, but the sound was dependent on the place of sticking and the quality of the instrument. The piezoelectric sensor in the bridge position or below is much better quality. These are offered by JRBaggs, B.Berry, Shadow, Zeta, Fishmann, even as a combination of sensors with a resonant sensor vibrating of the top plate, but the high amplifying may again cause feedback by oscillation of the instrument and usage of a larger distortion is almost impossible.

Electric violin eliminate these disadvantages. The top plate is changed to a massive body and quality sensor works with the bridge jittering, which in this case is more significant and does not interfere with the vibration of the body's parts. The signal intensity is equivalent to guitar's signal and can be further processed perfectly.

The active electrical and/or transmitter for wireless transmission can be a part of the instrument, too. The body's construction is only negligibly affected by humidity or temperature changes and can withstand even harsh treatment. Finally another big advantage of the electric violin is it's originality in shape and sound.

These were also the main reasons why I tried commercially produced electric violin at first, and then I decided to make my first electric violin on my own.

Electric violin is an excellent solution for another wide range of musicians: the violinists who need to train quietly, so all the musicians living in shared apartment buildings, because the sound of violin can resound the walls and may annoy the neighbours. The player can hear the sound of the violin without amplifying, but the others cannot or can minimally, so you can practice even in the middle of the night without fear.

Playing the electric violin is a path leading to the conditions of very high quality, in addition it is financially feasible.
